Shone Farm Sales and Distribution Assistant
OVERALL: In consultation with the Farm Manager and Marketing Coordinator, handle the day-to-day activities in support of Shone Farm’s CSA, farmers markets, restaurants, and retail sales activities. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
CSA
- Manage day-to-day member recruitment and correspondence
- Receive membership forms; enter member data in Excel and Quickbooks
- Coordinate with Field Hort Tech and Culinary Dept. to determine box contents each week
- Perform quality control
- Order and pick up add-ons (bakery item, eggs)
- Deliver CSA boxes to various campus outlets
- Write and distribute weekly newsletter
FARMSTAND/FARMERS MARKETS
- Manage all display materials, set up and sales at SRJC and SSU campus farm stand and community farmers market
- Supervise student workers and SusAg student volunteers
- Coordinate with Field Hort Tech and Culinary Dept. to have top quality and quantity of product to sell
- Prepare load lists, load van, pick up and deliver product
- Reconcile cashbox, enter data in Excel and Quickbooks
- Reconcile records with Accounting
- Issue monthly sales reports to Farm Manager
RESTAURANTS/RETAIL
- Meet weekly with Hort Tech and Farm Manager to determine type and quantity of produce available for the week
- Send out weekly sales order form
- Receive orders; make followup sales calls
- Enter orders into Quickbooks; prepare harvest request list
- Prepare load lists, load van, pick up and deliver product
ABILITY TO:
- Ability to clearly communicate through email, phone and direct contact with customers
- Create sales receipts and track all orders
- Perform mathematical calculations accurately
- Interface with Marketing Coordinator, Hort Tech I and Farm Manager
- Work independently with a minimum of supervision
- Maintain effective working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a
- diverse population.
- Lift 50 lbs.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Knowledge of produce desirable
- Knowledge of QuickBooks desirable
- Modern office methods and practices
- Bookkeeping and fiscal management; proper English usage, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar; current office equipment, technology and standard computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and internet navigation and QuickBooks
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: A minimum of two years of increasingly responsible sales and customer support and office procedures
COMPENSATION: $15.00 per hour.
This is a 60% position to include Mondays and Thursdays, plus one other day to be determined.
