This is excerpted from an email I received this week. Great work being done in Sonoma County that I hope will eventually expand to the rest of the North Coast region (and beyond)!

On Tuesday, August 9th, Sonoma County Food System Alliance (SCFSA) members, Stephanie Larson of University of California Cooperative Extension and Jana Hill of County Department of Health Services presented the Sonoma County Food Forum Report to the Community to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. The Board unanimously accepted the report, its recommendations, and the proposed action steps. The SCFSA will create a food policy framework and community food action plan with the Department of Health Services serving as liaison to all county departments. The policy framework and action plan will be developed with all Alliance members, integrating the community-generated recommendations from the Food Forum report, SCFSA food system goals, and broad community stakeholder input and review.
During Tuesday's meeting, the Board of Supervisors also expressed support for the county "Lands for Food" project. Read an August 10th news article to learn more.
The Sonoma County Food System Alliance is very excited to release the report to all Food Forum participants and the public at this time. The Report to the Community can be downloaded at the Sonoma County FSA's website, where you can also access recently released reports such as the Sonoma County Community Food System Assessment and the School Food Service Survey Report.
